The Art Wrestler is my blog about life as a working artist. I am also a mother and a curator, a teacher, a worker. The Art Wrestler reflects it all.

What began in 2012 as a journal about what it was like to run an art gallery, has morphed over the years to include more of my day to day preoccupations as a working artist juggling family, work, and studio life. Articles and essays may include occasional reviews of gallery and museum exhibitions, critical dialogue about the contemporary art world, Artist of the Week features, and book reviews, but mostly they revolve around my work in the art studio. Read more from my post Art Wrestling in 2014.

The first thing I say when I tell people I write a blog is that it's very self-indulgent. Technically that's what all blog writing starts out as, right? I do get self-conscious about sharing my personal thoughts with an unknown public, but it's always a surprise to discover that the more personal I am in my writing, the more people relate to what I'm saying. Sometimes it's the posts I feel the most unsure about that resonate with others.

A reader once commented that my blog seemed fragmented and that I should focus more on topics solely related to the working artist. My reply was that I am a working artist. I spend time washing dishes and wiping my kid's butt like everybody else. It's called the Art Wrestler for a reason. It's a blog about art and life because for me the two are inseparable. I'm a hand worker, not a machine.

Thanks for reading, hope you come back often!
